Rejection and Excitement

So far, 3/6 of my agent responses have been direct declines. It's been all "The work isn't my type," which means that it's definitely a lack of research/miscommmunication on my part. I think I'm marketing the book as horror when I should go with supernatural/dark fantasy. In the last letter I sent off, I changed the genre, so we'll see if that makes a difference.

I thought I'd be taking the rejection harder though.

I suppose it's a good thing that I'm not though, eh?

I need to get writing done tonight too, as tomorrow CRISIS CORE comes out, and I just don't think that I'll have much time left in my day. Hahaha.

Fangirlish excitement, oh gods.

By the way: Neon Genesis Evangelion is funny stuff. Especially easy to make fun of, and the stagnant moments of pseudo art...oh man. It's enjoyable just for its quirks alone. I'm almost happy that I need to use it for my thesis.

We March in the Rain, Sun, and Hail?

The peace rally on the 15th went rather well--except for the hail storm. There was 20 minutes of sun, to which Zach said, "This is a sign that God wants us to march." Either he was spited, or he didn't beware the Ides of March, for the sun didn't last. But it went well, and we giggled at the onlookers, like the Scientologists. The marchers didn't respond well to the well-wishes of the Scientologists, actually. I didn't mind, as the more people who agree with us the better--who cares what their religion is?

Me, Maria, and Christina do the "Hippie." This was taken right before the march, and the rain.

It was a pretty awesome day. Afterward, we got Zach plastered, as it was his 21st birthday, and we went to see Funny Games which was just...special. Zach called it "torture porn" at first, but then decided against it, as he overanalyzed, and stated then that it was "postmodernism." *Eyeroll*

I finished a new painting too. I think I've been favoring abstract, but despite that, I think this one turned out pretty damn well. It's edging a little on Hellsing fanart, but really, any other color of eye would have clashed badly with the maroon "Rising Sun." I think I'll do a typewriter for the next project. XD

I got to do my FIRST PUBLIC READING on Thursday too. And it went rather well. Reception was pretty damn good for such a dark piece (and on a "conservative Christian campus" to boot. I must seem like the Antichrist sometimes...). I read "King of Nothingness." Woot. People laughed at the gag, so at least I did something right. WOOHOO!

Slow, but steady....

No news on my literary agent queries yet. Meep. It's only been about a week and a half though, so next week may be the beginning of the responses. Oh dear.

I'm starting a new short story for my Creative Writing class that's meant to accompany "The King of Nothingness" on a very basic level. So far the idea is "The Queen of Death," but I may come up with a better and more ambiguous name. I'll need to go through my playlists first, as those ALWAYS help. But I believe that it has to be done by Sunday, so I need to come up with something soon.

And I have my first Peace Rally tomorrow, which may cut down significantly on my time.

Either way, this weekend will likely be quite awesome.

Unproductive!

Today, I planned to go downtown and take a trip around Powells to work on my thesis. Instead I had to sit around and wait to go grocery shopping (which I abhore). I got home around 4, and was left with my day gone. Crap.

I have a ton of homework to get to, so I don't have tomorrow to take a trip. I may anyway. *sigh* I have that paper on my field trip from last weekend...and that paper on the Exxon Valdez. UGH. This science class usurps all of my time, and it blows.

OH GOD, and that painting...I should probably work on that now, actually....

Now that it's midnight. Fun.
